CATCH A SHOOTING STAR

Bringing Communities Together Through the Power of Music

An ambitious new charity campaign is bringing music, hope and community spirit together in a bid to raise £10,000 for East Anglia's Children's Hospices.

Sometimes, the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference. That's the message behind Catch A Shooting Star, an inspiring new charity campaign launched by WYOS Media, with the aim of bringing communities across East Anglia together to raise £10,000 for East Anglia's Children's Hospices (EACH).

Spearheaded by WYOS Media founder, children's author and musician Damian Carruthers, alongside campaign manager Jo Pope, the initiative combines the emotional power of music with grassroots fundraising, encouraging individuals, schools, businesses and local organisations to come together for a cause that touches the lives of families across the region.

At the heart of the campaign is an original song, Catch A Shooting Star, written by Carruthers and featuring vocals from talented artists Laura T and Kristie 22. The single, accompanied by an emotive music video, is scheduled for release on 1st December 2026, providing a powerful musical centrepiece for the fundraising effort.

But this campaign is about much more than releasing a song.

A Community United by One Goal

The vision behind Catch A Shooting Star is refreshingly simple: everyone has something to contribute.

Rather than relying on one large fundraising event, the campaign is inviting people throughout East Anglia to become Community Champions, organising their own pop-up events, activities and fundraising initiatives.

From schools and local businesses to musicians, community groups and individuals, the invitation is open to anyone who wants to make a difference.

Whether it's hosting a charity coffee morning, organising a live music event, arranging a sponsored challenge or simply spreading awareness, every contribution will become part of one collective fundraising effort.

All donations will be directed through a single JustGiving fundraising page, ensuring that every participating community is working towards the same £10,000 target.

The campaign's central message, "We Are Stronger Together" reflects the belief that when individuals unite behind a shared purpose, even the smallest contributions can create something extraordinary.

Music With a Meaning

For Damian Carruthers, music has always been about more than entertainment. As a musician and creative professional, he understands its ability to connect people, tell stories and inspire emotion.

With Catch A Shooting Star, that creative passion is being channelled into something with a greater purpose.

"I wanted to create something that people could feel part of. Music has an incredible ability to bring people together, and we want Catch A Shooting Star to become much more than just a song. We want people, communities and businesses across East Anglia to take ownership of the campaign and make it their own."

The involvement of Laura T and Kristie 22 brings two distinctive voices to the project, with the accompanying music video intended to capture the emotion, compassion and hope at the heart of the campaign.

Together, the song and video will serve as a reminder of why the fundraising matters, while encouraging audiences to become actively involved.

Making a Difference for Local Families

East Anglia's Children's Hospices provides vital care and support to children and young people with life-threatening conditions, alongside their families. For families facing incredibly difficult circumstances, the support offered by organisations such as EACH can make an enormous difference.

Catch A Shooting Star hopes not only to raise much-needed funds but also to increase awareness of the charity's work and encourage more people to support the families who depend on its services.

By combining fundraising with music, creativity and community participation, the campaign aims to create a sense of shared achievement in which every contributor can genuinely feel they have played a part.

The Countdown to £10,000

With the campaign already underway and the single and music video arriving on 1st December, the weeks ahead will be focused on building momentum, encouraging community participation and bringing new supporters on board.

The fundraising campaign is scheduled to conclude on 31st December 2026, giving supporters the opportunity to make a difference throughout the festive season.

WYOS Media is now calling on businesses, schools, community organisations, musicians and individuals across East Anglia to get involved, organise fundraising activities and help spread the word.

Because ultimately, Catch A Shooting Star isn't simply about reaching a financial target. It's about creating something that people can feel proud to have been part of.

One song. One community. One shared goal. £10,000 for East Anglia's Children's Hospices.

And perhaps the most powerful message of all is that you don't have to do something extraordinary to make an extraordinary difference.

Sometimes, all it takes is for people to come together.
